タカハシシオンは、五感から受ける刺激を過剰に感じる自身の特性をもとに、自然の寛大さや生命の繊細さを表情豊かな筆致で描写し、心を和ませる表現で人々を魅了しています。
私たちが何気なく過ごす日常の傍らには、無数の生命がそれぞれの環境を生きています。その姿は普段意識されることが少なく、人間と深く関わりながら生きる生き物もいれば、自然環境の中で独自の営みを続ける生き物もいます。生き物たちの存在は互いに影響し合い、生態系の変化は巡り巡って私たちの暮らしにもつながっています。
本展は、そうした生命の営みと環境との関わりに焦点を当てています。「まずは知ることから」と願う作家の思いとともに、作品を通して、生き物たちが生きるもうひとつの世界に触れ、それぞれの生命へ思いを巡らせていただければ幸いです。

Painter TAKAHASHI Shion captures both nature’s kindness and life’s fragility. Through each expressive brushstroke, the painter draws on his heightened sensitivity as his compass to create his works, leaving a deep impression of warmth and comfort. An infinite number of living things thrive in their respective habitats and exist in parallel with our ordinary day-to-day lives. While often unnoticed, some creatures live in close association with us humans, while others choose their own path immersed in nature. Distant yet together, their shared existence is intertwined and essential to one another. A slight change in the ecosystem can eventually cause a chain reaction that affects human life as well.

As knowledge can build the first step towards deeper understanding and clarity, the artist's works in this exhibition invite us into another world where we can learn, discover and reflect on the uniqueness of the living things that surround us.

高橋嗣恩(タカハシ・シオン)/ TAKAHASHI Shion

2002年3月30日生まれ
動物や自然を題材に制作を行う水彩画家。 幼い頃から視覚過敏や聴覚過敏に悩まされる中で、自然と絵を描く時間は私にとって心を落ち着かせる大切な居場所でした。 また、東日本大震災の津波によって幼い頃に乗っていた馬を失った経験から、いつか消えてしまう命の存在を形として残したいという想いを原点に、動物を描き続けています。 作品では対象の写実性だけでなく、その生き物が持つ「らしさ」や生命の気配を大切にしています。また、反射や光の表現を積極的に取り入れることで、私たちが世界を認識する上で欠かせない「見る」という行為そのものについても問いかけています。

Born 30 March 2002 in Miyagi Prefecture, JAPAN.
A watercolor painter whose work focuses on animals and nature. Having struggled with visual and auditory hypersensitivity since childhood, drawing became a vital sanctuary for him where he could find peace. He continues to paint animals driven by a desire to give tangible form to lives that are destined to fade away echoing a sentiment from the loss of a horse he used to ride as a child after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake. The artist's work focuses not only on the realistic depiction of the subjects he paints of, but also on capturing their unique “essence” and the sense of life they possess. Through actively incorporating reflections and the play of light in his practice, TAKAHASHI explores the very act of how we see — an essential part of how we perceive the world around us.
