このたび、信陽堂よりアーティスト田中望のこれまでの画業から、酒田市松山文化伝承館にて行われた「田中望絵画展 自然の営み 人の営み」出品作品を中心に収めた作品集『千兎』が刊行されます。

『千兎』の出版を記念しビルドスペースでは、作品集の先行販売を行うとともに、作品集に収録した作品や過去作を展示します。会期中には、信陽堂・丹治史彦さんをお迎えし、作品集刊行の経緯や見どころについてお話いただきます。

『千兎』を通して田中望の作品世界を十分にご堪能ください。

Birdo Flugas is proud to host a pre-sale book release exhibition showcasing the works of Tohoku-based illustrator TANAKA Nozomi.

Publisher SHINYODO will release a collection of TANAKA’s previous works in this new book, titled “Sento / 千兎 (A Thousand Rabbits).” This collection will primarily come from her recent exhibition at the Matsuyama Cultural Heritage Museum in Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture, called TANAKA Nozomi Kaigaten: Shizen no Itonami, Hito no Itonami. (The Workings of Nature, the Workings of Humans: A Painting Exhibition). In addition to displaying TANAKA’s works from this collection as well as past, birdo space will also welcome SHINYODO’s TANJI Fumihiko for a joint gallery talk event with the artist. TANJI will share with us highlights and the backstory of how this collection was published.

With regards to “Sento / 千兎 (A Thousand Rabbits)”, TANJI says that TANAKA’s works were subjectively replicated and laid out together from - canvas to print - so that readers can experience the exquisite detail of her art while freely skimming and moving spreads from page to page. Readers can experience a rich visual historical journey wandering through the sky and earth, not only the big picture, but also savoring each and every detail, from the colors to the lines and into the emotions captured in her intricate artworks.

丹治 史彦（たんじ ふみひこ）TANJI Fumihiko
1967年宮城県塩竈市生まれ
リブロポート、メディアファクトリーを経て、2003年10月、港区南青山にてアノニマ・スタジオを設立（2007年台東区蔵前に移転）。「ごはんとくらし」を軸にした出版とフードイベント、ワークショップなどを展開。
2010年7月、井上美佳とともに信陽堂として活動を開始。

Born in 1967 in Shiogama City, MIYAGI Prefecture. Currently based in TOKYO.
Specializes in publishing printed works as well as holding workshops and food events focusing on “Food and life” or 「ごはんとくらし」(Gohan to Kurashi).

Has long been active in print publishing. Currently operates the SHINYODO publishing house with Children book editor INOUE Mika in 2010 and has also established the Anonyma Studio in 2003 in TOKYO’s former Minato Ward facility (currently in Taito Ward’s Kuramae since 2007).

Prior to these, TANJI has worked at the Libroport and Media Factory.

田中望（たなかのぞみ）/ TANAKA Nozomi
1989年生まれ、宮城県仙台市在住。
2017年、東北芸術工科大学博士後期課程修了。博士（芸術工学）、アーティスト、東北工業大学ライフデザイン学部生活デザイン学科講師。衣食住をはじめとした暮らしを取り巻く環境とそのコンテクストからなる「場所」を対象に、場所との関わりの中から生じる表現について探究している。各地でフィールドワークを行い、その土地の文化、歴史、固有の気候風土のなかで営まれる人々の暮らしなど、そこで触れたものから生じた問いをきっかけに作品を制作してきた。

Born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture in 1989 and based in Yamagata Prefecture. TANAKA is an artist who constantly uses different kinds of art such as paintings, illustrations, picture books and essay writings to express herself. 

The themes in her creative works dwell on addressing social issues in Japan’s Tohoku region through field works and face-to-face conversations with locals. One of her signature trademarks present includes the rabbit (usagi), an element often seen in Japanese traditional culture and storytelling. 

Recent work she has exhibited have been at Art Front Gallery in Tokyo (Gift from Mountain, 2022 and A place and Sign, 2017), the Yokohama Museum of Art (Shiotsuchi, 2015), and at the Shiogama Sugimura Jun Museum of Art (Memories of Syogarou: Kitsune no Tomoshibi).
