2008年にスタートして以来、 高い評価を得てきた東北最大の写真の祭典・塩竈フォトフェスティバル。宮城県塩竈市の写真館に生まれ育った写真家・平間至が実行委員長を、国内外で活動するインディペンデント・キュレーター菊田樹子がアーティスティック・ディレクターを務め、第一線で活躍する写真家や写真関係者を招き、2008年当時はまだ普及していなかったポートフォリオレヴューの実施、歴史的建造物をはじめ市内各所で、多様かつ質の高い写真の展示を行ってきました。第8回目となる「塩竈フォトフェスティバル2024」の一環としてビルドスペースでは、塩竈フォトフェスティバル2022写真賞大賞の受賞者である淵上裕太さんによる受賞作品「上野公園」を展示します。

Hailed as the Tohoku region’s largest and one of the most highly acclaimed photography festivals since its launch in 2008, the biennial SGMA: Shiogama Photo Festival showcases some of the best talent from photographers across Japan and overseas. The festival’s organizing committee is led by photographer and Shiogama native HIRAMA Itaru and coordinated by the festival’s artistic director KIKUTA Mikiko, an independent curator. The festival holds portfolio reviews from all kinds of photographers, and a variety of curated work have been exhibited across Shiogama City’s historical venues and other various locations - including birdo space. For the festival’s eighth edition, and as a participating venue of SGMA, birdo space is proud to exhibit the award-winning works of Fuchikami Yuta, the 2022 SGMA Photography Award Grand Prize recipient.

プロフィール / Profile

淵上裕太　Fuchikami Yuta

1987年、岐阜県生まれ。2014年名古屋ビジュアルアーツ写真学科卒業。六本木スタジオを経て独立。2016年より上野界隈に集まる人々を撮影した〈路上〉シリーズを継続的に発表。上野を背景に人物を正面から捉えた写真は、被写体との間に独特の距離感を生み出す。主な展覧会に、上野に集う人々を捉えた「路上～私の心を奪うために～」（TOTEM POLE PHOTO GALLERY、東京、2016年）、「2021年度ヤング・ポートフォリオ サテライト展」（Place M、2022年）など。主な写真集に『路上1』（2017年、私家版）、『路上2』（STAIRS PRESS、2018年）、『上野公園』（塩竈フォトフェスティバル、2023年）。塩竈フォトフェスティバル2022ポートフォリオレヴュー・写真大賞受賞。
