彫刻家・佐野美里は楠を素材に、愛らしく、時に力強く生きている女性の魅力を犬の姿で表現しています。本展では、「Okey Dokey (オーキードーキー)」テーマに、新作の彫刻、刺繍、ドローイングを含む約20点を展示します。
「オーキードーキー」とは「OK」の楽しい言い方で、友達や家族など親しい関係で良く使う言葉です。変なダンスを踊ったりずっこけたり、作家自身のおっちょこちょいな部分を切り取った新作を多く発表します。

Using camphor wood, SANO Misato creates self-portrait wood carvings that express both the charm of women's inner strength as well as their lovely personalities through the figure and form of the dog. In addition, she regards wood as a living thing and creates her works by meticulously with love and care by carving each piece to bring out each wood canvas' individuality and uniqueness.

Around 20 works will be featured in this exhibition - which include new sculptures, embroidery, and drawings, all connecting with the theme centered on the friendly and cordial expression of approval called, "Okey Dokey." On weekends during the exhibition, there will be a drawing portrait session (paid, reservations required) where you can have a picture of a dog, or a human in the form of a dog on the spot and take home for you to keep.

In addition, custom-cookies made for this exhibition by baked goods shop Sion will also be on sale.

Sculptor. Born 1987 in Miyagi Prefecture. Using camphor wood, she creates self-portrait wood carvings that express both the charm of women's inner strength as well as their lovely personalities through the figure and form of the dog. In addition, she regards wood as a living thing and creates her works by meticulously with love and care by carving each piece to bring out each wood canvas' individuality and uniqueness.

A graduate school alumna of the Tohoku University of Art and Design (TUAD) specializing in Design Engineering and Sculpture, her works have been showcased both in Japan and overseas such as the United States and Taiwan. She actively shares her creative process on social media from her home studio in Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, and on the road in various places in Tohoku, northern Japan.
