オダユウジは、秩序ある即興のパターン化をテーマに線や面の構成し、見てきたものや聞いたことからの閃きや情景を表現しています。
オダは、４年前から郊外の海辺の街で暮らしはじめました。　「買い物ついでに海が見れて、家のまわりには雑草と呼ばれるであろう名も知らぬ植物たちがわさわさと生えている。地域猫がご飯をもらいにきたり、ゴミを狙うカラスはどこか可愛らしい。」　そこでの暮らしは、車での移動が必須ではありながら、海や植物がより身近な存在になったと言います。
本展では、新しい暮らしの中から見えた景色や感じた印象をミックスした自分の世界を描いた作品を展示しています。

Painter ODA Yuji creates compositions of lines and shapes that focus on orderly and improvised patterning, expressing his admiration for the fine details of the space that surrounds him, captured through both sight and sound.

Taking inspiration from his new life moving into the suburban seaside town of Yokosuka in Kanagawa Prefecture near Tokyo, he reflects on his journey adapting to his new environment - from the necessity of having a car, frequently seeing the ocean view in the backdrop, to getting used to unknown plants sprouting around outside his doorstep called weeds. “...(I see) Chiiki-Neko (community cats) randomly show up to get their food from kind neighbors, and even the sight of ferocious crows scavenging for trash looks somewhat adorable to look at.” he says.

ODA shares these fine observations in his artworks, depicting the World he sees - mirroring the contrasts, perspectives, and impressions of his new life. His works range from a variety of visual works - such as paintings, drawings, and vases. Explore the vibrant world he has created and shares with us in this exhibition.

それらは、隣り合い、重なり合い、

"The rhythm of straight lines and curves that are drawn create various objects that together, make up a Picture. They exist side by side. They can overlap, and they sometimes clash. However, these interactions help forge bonds and help build a harmonious World. It may sound like today’s society, but it could possibly be not.

That said, while the Picture itself is considered done, it would be nice to at least see a good World unfold among us.”

1981年生まれ　東京都出身。秩序ある即興のパターン化をテーマに、見聞きしたこと、コミュニケーションの中から受けたインスピレーションや情景を線や面の構成で表現している。 国内外での壁画制作や作品発表をはじめ、フェスやイベントでのライブペイント、ペイントワークショップ。そのほか、書籍、音楽、ファッションなど様々なジャンルのアートワークを手がける。

Born in Tokyo. in 1981. With the theme of patterned orderly improvisation, he expresses inspirations and scenes received from what he sees, hears, and communicates with others, through the composition of lines and surfaces. In addition to creating murals and exhibiting his works in Japan and abroad, he has been involved in live painting at festivals and events, painting workshops, and other artworks in various genres, including books, music, and fashion.

Prior to the exhibition, the artist will be holding a vase painting workshop at the Shiogama City Sugimura Jun Museum of Art, as part of the twice-a-year community market event Kurashi no Ichi, on Saturday, 14 June - and Sunday 15 June 2025 from 10:00-15:00. Anyone can walk-in and join the workshop during these times, and it costs 1,500 JPY (tax included) to participate. Materials are included and no prior experience necessary.
