青山夢は、現代生活を神話学的な視点で捉え直し、人間と自然が治癒と破壊を繰り返しながら共生するあり方を探究しています。
遠い異界の幻想ではなく、私たちの日常のすぐ隣にひそむ“もうひとつの現実”ーー食卓という日常・生・信仰が無意識に交差する場を起点に、青山は、その向こう側に連なる怪獣を、現実と地続きの存在として描き出しています。素材にはシルクサテンを用い、ウルトラ怪獣の縫い目を思わせる有機的な接合と、寺山修司作品に通じる極彩色の濃密な昭和的質感、そこにポケモンやたまごっちのような滑らかな平成的フォルムを重ねることで、異なる時代感覚を融合した独自の造形世界を構築しています。
本展では、食器や家具などの日用品、縁起物と怪獣を組み合わせた立体作品と平面作品など新作を中心に展示します。青山が表現する人間と自然の共生、治癒と破壊の循環をご覧ください。

「食卓のむこうに怪獣がいる」
それは遠い異界の物語ではなく、わたしたちの日常のすぐ隣にひそむ、もうひとつの現実の気配である。
本展における「食卓」とは、日常・生・信仰が無意識のうちに交差する場所であり、その“むこう側”に潜む怪獣は、私たちの現実と地続きの存在である。
かわいらしさの奥に潜む不穏さ、信仰と消費、日常と異界。
食卓のむこう側にひらくその境界で、わたしたちは「いま」という時間が、すでにひとつの物語であることに気づく。 (青山 夢)

This is not a story about the underworld hidden far within our reach. Rather so, this is a story of a parallel reality hidden among us everyday - waiting for us at the edge of the dining table.

In this exhibition, this dining table represents a space where life, faith, and the ordinary everyday routine subconsciously intersect, depicted as monsters lurking underneath.

Crafted from silk satin, the artist’s three-dimensional and two-dimensional works combine these monsters with everyday items found at home such as tableware, furniture, and amulets. Against the backdrop of folklore, faith, and the diverse perspectives involving life and death, the artist overlays these contemporary motifs such as manga and anime to introduce a mythical world brought out into the spotlight, transcending both time and space.

Bringing together elements symbolizing Japanese pop culture - from the rich vibrant textures of late 80s Showa with the refined and stylish pop colors of late 90s Heisei, visitors can experience a unique world and aesthetic that brings forth the collective emotion and ambience associated by these two distant yet defining eras of modern Japan.

Beyond the euphoric feeling of cuteness and color lies underneath a sense of unease; of overconsumption, of discomfort, of something beyond the mundane and the everyday, and of another world beyond our reach. We realize that the present moment itself is a story we live and experience.

AOYAMA's works showcase the symbiosis between humans and nature, and the cycle of healing and destruction - as seen on the edge of the dining table.

青山夢（あおやま・ゆめ）・ AOYAMA Yume

画家。1997年、茨城県生まれ。
現代生活を神話学的思考で捉え、治癒と破壊を繰り返す人間と自然の共生について研究中。災いが起きても、境界なく入り混じる獣に興味を持ち、廃棄手前のさまざまな獣の皮膚や毛を素材に作品を制作している。

Painter. Born 1997 in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. She researches the symbiosis between humans and nature, which repeatedly heals and destroys themselves, by observing modern life with a mythological mindset. She is interested in animals which can travel everywhere without boundaries even when the disaster strikes. AOYAMA graduated from the Tohoku University of Art and Design, with an Masters in the School of Art and Design, focusing on Painting Research, and in 2020 with a BA in Oil painting.
