タカハシシオンは、五感から受ける刺激を過剰に感じる特性をもちます。特に、生活空間における人工的な光は反射光のように異常に眩しく感じ、身の回りの音は大きく聞こえ、必要以上に耳に響きわたります。 一方で、自然界の光や音は、彼にやさしく穏やかに世界を伝えてくれたと言います。ふと眺めた木々や鳥たちの輪郭がくっきりとみえたとき、これまで曖昧だった彼の視界が鮮明になり、感動と好奇心に満ちたのです。 タカハシシオンが写実表現に挑むのは、彼を取り巻く世界への深い関心と歓喜と言えるでしょう。本展では、彼が畏敬の念を抱く動物を中心に描いた作品の数々を展示します。 彼が感じるままに描く自然界をご覧ください。

Take a glimpse into the colorful, ethereal and lucid world captured by TAKAHASHI Shion.

His deep sensitivity to his surroundings help this Sendai-born emerging watercolor painter meticulously capture the finite moments of nature that most common folk take for granted. Working to his advantage, he channels this deep sensitivity using watercolor and creates such vibrant and astonishing artworks that soothes and heals even the most battered soul.

Each of Shion’s watercolor works feature an animal drawn through his imagination and vision. Stroke by stroke, he fuses the intensiveness of light and sound to produce such a visually kaleidoscopic work that is soft in emotion but filled with vigor and curiosity. His paintings ask us to rethink expressive realism and reflect on the things that deliver joy, hope, and comfort to such a competitive world that we live in.

Born in 2002 and based in Miyagi Prefecture’s Tagajo City. He is an alum of Tohoku Seikatsu Bunka University in Sendai City. He graduated from institution's High School Unit's Design Stream and is currently taking the University Unit's Interdisciplinary Arts Program since 2019 for his post-secondary studies. His artworks have been recognized as a Special Award recipient of the 1st Kuretake Watercolor Competition, and the Kusanagi Award at the Volume 13 All-Japan Illustration Contest, in 2022 and 2019 respectively.
